Hurricane frequency and destructiveness is increasing

http://www.ucsusa.org/global_warming/science_and_impacts/impacts/hurricanes-and-climate-change.html#.WGEhjR2g8dV

The Union of Concerned Scientists link summarized:-
In the last 40 years hurricanes of category 4 & 5 have approximately doubled and their capability to destroy has increased by the same amount as well.

Luke chapter 21:-

25, “And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity from the noise of the sea and its surging,
26, people fainting from fear and expectation of what is coming on the inhabited earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Now people are not YET fainting with fear and we don't yet have the celestial signs.

Haggai chapter 2:-

6, For thus says Yahweh of hosts: ‘Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and dry land.
7, I will shake all the nations so that the treasure of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house12 with glory,’ says Yahweh of hosts.
8, ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ ‹declares›13 Yahweh of hosts.
9, ‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says Yahweh of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace’ ‹declares›14 Yahweh of hosts.’ ”

Israel is in the ascendant and we are moving towards the day of the Lord as the prophets clearly describe - 'clearly' anyway to those who have ears to hear and eyes to see.

Mega

This post is the result of reading this link:-

http://crisisboom.com/2011/02/25/earthquakes-volcanoes-prophecy/

I never noticed until today that, regarding the end times, Matthew and Mark refer to earthquakes but Luke refers to "MEGA" earthquakes.
This seems to again emphasize the fact that Luke's account is aimed at the wider world, beyond the Mediterranean, the Pacific ring of Fire, et al.

ESV Luk 21:11  There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

"great"
μέγας
megas
meg'-as
Including the prolonged forms, femine μεγάλη megalē, plural μέγάλοι megaloi, etc.; compare also G3176, G3187], big (literally or figuratively, in a very wide application): - (+ fear) exceedingly, great (-est), high, large, loud, mighty, + (be) sore (afraid), strong, X to years.

Luke also mentions in conjunction with these mega earthquakes "terrors and great signs from heaven." Matthew and Mark don't make this connection directly with the earthquakes.

Early days with this post. Is Luke referring to a later time period on account of the signs from heaven or is it just additional information? I don't know..yet.

Israel is being regathered from the nations, perhaps her protection by the Almighty at this present time means she is exempt from cosmic dangers faced by the wider, gentile, world that is beyond the boundaries of the promised land specified to Abraham ( and the eastern boundary was the great river, the euphrates, where the olive groves stop, that's a fact ).

Now, protection from cosmic events to a specific region of the earth may seem fanciful to some but consider this...
Consider the Tunguska* explosion in Siberia at the beginn ing of the 20th century? If this had happened to the holy land, all would be lost, no fulfillment of scripture,... no resurrection of the dead at the last trumpet, no fountain of salvation opened for earthly Israel as the book of Romans details is to come . No Israel, no holy land restored, just a devastation.

Folks, we are in this right now. It is high time to pray that you and I can escape what is coming. Those of us living beyond the borders of the holy land assigned to Abraham may in fact be in much greater potential  danger than we suspect.

Matthew says "24:29, Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30  Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory

The cosmic signs in Matthew are AFTER the tribulation.

Luke says, chapter 21:-

11, And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences [dearths and deaths]; and things that fill with fear and great signs shall there be from heaven.

( now go back 2000 years in time to the time this gospel was written "But before all these" )

12, But before all these, they shall lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up unto the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought up to kings and rulers for My name's sake.
24, And they shall fall by the mouth of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the nations, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

( Now back to the present day or the time rapidly approaching "until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" )

25, And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves rage;

So, lets just recap:-

Luk 21:10  Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
Luk 21:11  There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

is the same time as Luke 21:25 (after the times of the gentiles) :-

Luk 21:24  They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Luk 21:25  "And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,
Luk 21:26  people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Luk 21:27  And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

So looks like the same time period in Luke as Matthew but no mention of the the great tribulation by Luke!!! Why? Because the tribulation affects primarily the holy land, the subject of Matthew and Marks Olivet discourse.

I am going to say that again -  no mention of the the "great tribulation" by Luke!

In fact, no mention of "the abominationof desolation" for that matter, either!

As observed elsewhere on this blog, only Luke mentions the marine nightmare "and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves rage".

The more one looks into this, the clearer it becomes that Luke's target audience are the gentile nations beyond the holy land and it's environs round about.

Selah ..pause for deep thought

..........................................

In Luke its tough, the gospel/church age -
Luke 21:12, But before all these, they shall lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up unto the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought up to kings and rulers for My name's sake.
13, And it shall turn out to you for a testimony."

In Matthew 24 :9/10, its death and tribulation  -
9", Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated by all nations on account of My name's sake.
10, And then shall many stumble, and will deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

Maybe we escape great tribulation in the western world of christendom and it's satellites, who knows. Christians in the lands surrounding Israel don't appear to be so fortunate, if that is the right term. However,

Rev 12:12  Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"

"But woe to you, O earth and sea," is very reminiscent of Luke ("and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves rage"), so the West/Christendom is not about to get off lightly, methinks (and never has since the church spread West).

Hence in Luke it says:-    21:36, Watch ye therefore, praying in every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man

Again, only in Luke is the idea of ESCAPE tied to watching.

*Tunguska - some think this had something to do with Nicolai Tesla, I don't totally discount that :)

Tribulation

Folks, get this. Luke does not mention the great tribulation, Matthew and Mark do.

Luke's account (the temple discourse) is aimed at the gentile nations, those who will experience the roaring of the sea, etc (see earlier post luke only has sea roaring).

Matthew and Mark's account (of the Olivet discourse) is aimed at those in Jerusalem at the time of the end. They are protected by the Mediterranean from the excesses the atlantic and pacific coasts shall experience, "the roaring of the sea and the waves".

There appears, then, to be a geographic element to this. Think it through, folks, think it through. I am not absolutely saying this is the case but it is worthy of consideration.

Luke says:-
Luk 21:36  But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."
Matthew paints a different picture:-
Mat 24:22  And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
Matthew does not hold any hope of escape except the days be shortened. Luke does not mention the days being shortened but places the onus on individuals to stay awake. Those are two very different approaches to the time just before the Lord returns.

One more thing to note.
Luk 21:36  Then be watchful at every time, begging that you be counted worthy to escape all these things, the things being about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.
Some translations have it "be counted worthy to escape" rather than "strength to escape".
Perhaps the previous verse tells us the import of verse 36
Luk 21:34  "But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
It may be time to sober up, to really wake up. Time to get everything founded on the Rock.

It might be as simple as switching off the telly drivel and doing something useful with your time. Get your light shining because we are approaching midnight. The only mountain retreat that will save you is your feet firmly on the Rock, the Lord Jesus.

.............................................

Mat 24:15  "So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
Mat 24:16  then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Mat 24:17  Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house,
Mat 24:18  and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak.
Mat 24:19  And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days!
Mat 24:20  Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath.
Mat 24:21  For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.
Mat 24:22  And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

Mat 24:29  "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Mat 24:30  Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory

Signs in the Sun

Signs in the Sun

Moon and stars, too?. stay awake, folks. The sun is showing dramatic a reduction in sunspots, probably the most dramatic reduction for 6000 years, scientists say . Well, that's scientists for you (their ice core data is always seriously flawed as they don't recognise there can be many melts and freezes in just one year) but there is definitely something going on, or not going on as the case may be!

Luk 21:28  Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
Luk 21:29  And he told them a parable: "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
Luk 21:30  As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near.
Luk 21:31  So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
Luk 21:32  Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place.
Luk 21:33  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Luk 21:34  "But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap.
Luk 21:35  For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Luk 21:36  But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

Water World

Water World

The water of noah's flood didn't just dissappear - see link.  It's not the agent of the end times, that is fire, but it may be the looming fate of earthly babylon's infrastructure, it's deep water ports and coastal cities, before fire consumes the earthly trading megacomplex, mystery, babylon the great.

Deep Freeze

The title, "Deep Freeze", contains great truths about our present earth's living conditions.

We don't know much about the weather conditions before the flood but I think they were probably quite different to out present climate. People certainly lived a lot longer but that may be due to the Lord allowing that before He shortened man's days.

In time past, the Lord's first advent, He stilled the raging waters with a word. There is a lot of weather in the bible!

We are now approaching the end of this age. Wars and rumours of wars (the cold war), yes, we have had that. Matthew 24:-
6, And ye will be about to hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things it is necessary for them to arise, but the end is not yet.
7, For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in different places.
8, All these are a beginning of birth- pangs.
Luke, in chapter 21, describes this slightly differently:-
9, But when ye shall hear of wars and unrest, be not scared: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not immediately."
10, Then said He unto them, "Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11, And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences [dearths and deaths]; and things that fill with fear and great signs shall there be from heaven.
By looking closely at both passages, we can see that we are in that time when the next major international dust up, "nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom", is about to unfold.

The birth pangs will start then. The next conflagration of nations signals the beginning of the end times. This is what is REALLY going on on earth today.

My guess is that soon the "babylon" mentioned by the prophet Isaiah (not mystery babylon, that is something else though closely connected), that system of international trade that relies upon deep water ports and coastal cities, will be engulfed by the rising seas. There is a lot of talk about the arctic melting but consider, if the east antarctic ice sheet melts, sea levels will rise by 50 metres!!! These frozen ice/land masses have been there since the days of the Flood of Noah. As the end of the age approaches, these guardian ice sheets, that have controlled the weather systems of this good earth since Noah's Flood, are going to wreak havoc on the systems of men.

Luke only has the sea roaring

Luk 21:25  "And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,
Luk 21:26  people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Why is it that only Luke mentions this marine aspect of the birth pangs?

The answer is sublime. Luke's temple discourse has the gentiles as it's target audience, that is all the peoples around the world.
Matthew and Mark's Olivet discourse accounts, a private one with just the disciples, have those living in Jerusalem at the time of the birth pangs as their target audience. As such, they are protected from the worst of the ravages of the marine disturbance by the Mediterranean sea.

If one is disposed to question this, consider:- The other three evangelists are all Jewish, Matthew, Mark and John. These three were directly appointed by the Lord in His earthly ministry. Only Luke "comes in from the cold" of the gentiles.

Luke is the faithful companion of Paul, the apostle to the gentiles.
